Rugby League and Gridiron in Melton have a new home ground advantage thanks to a brand new pavilion recently completed at MacPherson Park, backed by the Victorian Government.

Member for Melton Steve McGhie today joined representatives of the Melton Broncos Rugby League Club and Melton Wolves Gridiron Club to officially open the pavilion, made possible by a $1 million boost from the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

The new pavilion features four player change rooms and an umpires’ room with amenities suitable for women and girls, accessible public amenities, first aid room and storage.

Works have also created a social room and kitchen for the Broncos and Wolves to bring the community together.

The new facility helps cement the park’s reputation as a major sporting hub for Melton, with the new facilities providing a great new base for clubs like the Broncos and Wolves to continue to develop and grow local programs, providing opportunities for more people including women and girls to get in on the fun.

The new pavilion is not only a boost for players and supporters but also provides new spaces for community groups to gather, meet and develop local programs.

The Victorian Budget 2025/26 is providing $20 million to support the development of high-quality, accessible community sports infrastructure across the state, including through the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

This brings the Victorian Government’s investment in community sport and active recreation infrastructure to more than $2.4 billion since 2014.

From oval redevelopments to new pavilions, investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Steve McGhie MP acknowledged Melton City Council for its investment of more than $4.3 million and commitment to delivering the project.
