Labor is making it easier for Melton communities to connect – with voting now open on the next round of the Pick My Park program.

Member for Melton Steve McGhie today encouraged local residents to have their say and vote for their favourite park projects in Melton.

The revitalisation of Scarlet Oak Reserve in Harkness upgrade includes inclusive play equipment, better kick-around space, more trees and shade, safer connected paths, new seating and gathering areas, greener landscaping, and targeted vehicle exclusion to improve safety and protect grass, trees and paths.

Voting opens today on the second round of the Pick My Park program, with over 100 projects across Melbourne competing for a share of $10 million in funding.

Pick My Park has already delivered nearly $18 million to develop 97 parks, playgrounds, and gathering spaces in high-growth areas across the state.

Over 140 project proposals were submitted and assessed for eligibility, quality, and alignment to community expectations, with communities now able to pick their favourite three parks from the final list of 124.

From the creation of new urban pocket parks to playground revamps, fitness equipment and accessibility upgrades, responses to the survey show Victorian park-goers want open spaces that connect communities.

The winning entries will receive between $20,000 to $250,000 to improve existing parks and open spaces and establish brand new urban parks by transforming underutilised land.
