NEW ERA FOR BREEDERS CROWN MEETING AT MELTON
This year’s Tabcorp Breeders Crown at Melton will be bigger and better than ever, thanks to a funding package from the Victorian Government.
Member for Melton Steve McGhie today announced that the Government is allocating more than $30,000 from the Victorian Racing Industry Fund – Raceday Attraction Program to support the Breeders Crown meeting Tabcorp Park in its flagship new format on Saturday, 20 November.
The Breeders Crown is an important fixture in the harness racing calendar, and this year it has been moved from its traditional August timeslot to November.
The twilight/night meeting will feature the same strong line-up of racing, but also include more entertainment and a kids zone – attracting a wider audience to the family-friendly event.
The meeting will be held in COVIDSafe settings consistent with Victoria’s roadmap, with a double vaccinated requirement for all spectators and staff on course. The crowd will be capped at 5,000 with extra staff on hand to help patrons comply with COVIDSafe requirements.
The harness racing industry in Victoria generates $600 million for the economy and helps sustain over 4,300 full-time-equivalent jobs.
