The growing Melton community will soon have access to a new community hub and improved local parks and reserves thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Government.
Melton City Council will receive $6.46 million towards five projects from the 2021-22 round of the Growing Suburbs Fund, which helps our interface and peri-urban councils deliver much-needed local infrastructure.
On behalf of Minister for Local Government Shaun Leane, the Member for Melton Steve McGhie today announced $4 million for the Cobblebank Community Services Hub, a three-storey centre that will offer a range of community, allied health and education services to meet the needs of the growing community.
Mr McGhie also announced $800,000 to deliver the Bridge Road Recreation Reserve Stage 2, with active recreation facilities and shared path network through the precinct, and $560,297 for the Navan Park upgrade, including tree planting and improved amenities around the lake.
The latest round of the Growing Suburbs Fund will also provide Melton City Council $650,000 to upgrade Parkway Reserve and $450,000 to upgrade Earlington Square Reserve, with improvements to play and activity spaces including infrastructure such as paths and picnic facilities.
Since it was established in 2015, the Growing Suburbs fund has supported 299 projects across our fastest-growing areas, representing a total infrastructure investment of $1.07 billion.
In the City of Melton alone, it has now invested more than $41.8 million towards 36 projects, including the Eynesbury Recreation Reserve, Aintree Community Hub and Mt Atkinson Active Open Space Precinct.
