NEW BUS LINK FOR MELBOURNE'S WEST
The Allan Labor Government is improving public transport in Melbourne’s west with a new bus route for Thornhill Park and Cobblebank residents, supporting everyday trips to work, education, shopping and activities.
From Sunday 26 July, Route 451 – Thornhill Park to Cobblebank Station will start taking passengers – seven days a week, day and night, thanks to Labor’s investment in the 2025/26 Victorian Budget.
Buses will run every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 40 minutes on weekends.
The route will provide a frequent and reliable bus service connecting passengers to Cobblebank Station, Central Square, Cobblebank Village, Kolorer College and other local destinations.
The service will also stop near the Cobblebank Campus of St Francis College, providing students and families with more public transport options.
Route 451 will operate from 5.15am to midnight on weekdays, from 6.20am to 11.50pm on Saturdays and public holidays, and from 6.20am to 10.50pm on Sundays.
The route has also been designed to serve the future Melton Hospital when it opens, helping ensure Melbourne's growing west has the public transport connections it needs.
The new service builds on the Allan Labor Government's record investment in Victoria's bus network, with more than 24,000 extra bus services delivered every week across the state.
In the 2026/27 Victorian Budget, the Labor Government’s Bus Bonanza has invested almost $100 million into delivering additional bus service improvements across our state.
This includes funding to deliver more bus services in Melton South, with two new routes to connect Weir Views and Strathtulloh to train stations, and an upgrade to Route 454 which will see the frequency double and the route extended to Woodgrove Shopping Centre.
The new Route 451 timetable and map will be available from Friday 10 July 2026 at transport.vic.gov.au.
Thanks to Labor’s half-price travel initiative, trips on Route 451 and across Victoria’s public transport network are discounted by 50 per cent until 1 January 2027 – and since the introduction of the Youth myki, travel is permanently free for everyone under 18.
Only Labor is making public transport easier and more affordable.
