The Allan Labor Government is making sure every Victorian gets a great education close to home – supporting schools to meet growing enrolments with 54 state-of-the-art multi-storey classrooms to be in place from the start of the 2026 school year.

Member for Melton Steve McGhie today announced Staughton College will receive two new double storey classrooms as part of the Labor Government’s $148.4 million investment in additional classrooms for population growth areas through the 2025-26 Modular Classrooms Program.

The classrooms will be installed and open for students by Term 1, 2026, providing capacity for an extra 200 students at the school.

These add to the 73 multi-storey relocatable buildings allocated to 42 schools across Victoria earlier this year, which are providing capacity for an additional 6,375 students.

The multi-storey classrooms incorporate the latest innovations to provide teachers and students with modern learning environments, including double-glazed windows and improved insulation to reduce heat loss, special wall and ceiling linings to reduce internal noise reverberation, energy efficient design and external window shades.

In 2025-26, the Government has invested $148.4 million to deliver additional classrooms in areas of need, as part of the Modular Classrooms Program. The program will fund the construction and delivery of 177 newly manufactured buildings to address enrolment growth.

The Labor Government is building the Education State, so every Victorian child has access to a world class education at a school with world-class, modern learning spaces.

Since 2014, the Government has invested $18.5 billion to build 123 schools and complete more than 2,300 school upgrades.
