No one should go hungry, which is why the Allan Labor Government is delivering more support for food relief in Melton.

Member for Melton Steve McGhie today announced local organisations that will share in $9 million through the Community Food Relief Program, doubling the program’s funding this year to deliver fresh and nutritious food right across Victoria.

Across Victoria, the program boosts supply for large-scale food relief organisations and supports volunteers on the frontline. Seven Coordination Grants will help major providers expand services, while 126 Local Grants will strengthen grassroots support.

In Melton Combined Churches Caring Melton Inc will receive $60,000 funding to upgrade facilities, enhance volunteer engagement, food purchasing and transport costs to support ongoing delivery of food relief services and increase client numbers.

The South Sudanese Christian Welfare Association will receive $25,000 to provide healthy, culturally appropriate community meals to the South Sudanese community. Including food purchasing and volunteers trained in bulk cooking and food safety.

Earth Village Community Ltd will receive $76,000 to deliver three seasonal pilots and a weekly dine-in meal program to meet immediate needs. Facility upgrades, volunteer training and community consultation to improve safety, accessibility and sustainability.

The Victorian Budget 2025/26 delivers $18 million to expand food relief right across Victoria – bringing our total investment in food security to more than $74 million.
