Students across Melton will benefit from improved facilities with maintenance works set to be carried out at Coburn Primary School, Kurunjang Primary School and Toolern Vale and District Primary School thanks to the Allan Labor Government.
Steve McGhie Member for Melton announced these three schools are part of 88 schools who will share in over $19.9 million of funding from the Planned Maintenance Program (PMP) to undertake 90 maintenance projects between them.
Coburn Primary will receive $903,656 funding to completely rebuild eight ramps, partial rebuild of three ramps and minor works at two ramps.
Kurunjang Primary School will receive $97,247 for a complete rebuild of one ramp and minor work at one ramp.
Toolern Vale and District Primary School will receive $85,271 for a complete rebuild of two ramps and minor works at one ramp.
This is the latest round of PMP which provides funding to address high-priority maintenance works across Victoria’s government schools.
The program ensures schools can undertake essential work in classrooms and other school buildings such as fixing roofs and replacing windows, maintaining ramps, painting, and resurfacing floors, as well as some external works like improving pathways.
Works are determined by a rolling facilities evaluation process, which provides up-to-date information on the condition of schools to create a faster and more targeted allocation of funding.
In 2024, 342 schools have received over $99.9 million in total for work on 349 projects, including the projects announced today.
The Labor Government has invested $16.9 billion over the past 10 years to build new schools and deliver more than 2,200 school upgrades − supporting more than 26,000 jobs in construction and associated industries.
The Victorian Budget 2024/25 invested $947.7 million to build 16 more new schools – completing the promise to deliver 100 new schools between 2019 and 2026.
