LABOR HELPS REBUILD LIVES FOR MELTON RESIDENTS SLEEPING ROUGH 

The Allan Labor Government is getting Melton residents sleeping rough off the streets and back on their feet.  

Ten new homeless outreach services will be delivered across Brimbank / Melton, Shepparton, Hume, Whitehorse, Latrobe, Darebin, Bairnsdale, Maribyrnong, Wodonga and the Mornington Peninsula.  

Steve McGhie Member for Melton today announced Melton will receive funding from the Labor Government’s $27.8 million investment to deliver homelessness services in every region of Victoria. 

Support workers will lend a hand to rough sleepers in these areas, helping them secure stable housing and get their lives back on track.

The investment includes additional emergency accommodation for those who need it most, as well as health and social care – services that would often be out of reach for people sleeping rough. 

This is in addition to the Labor Government’s $300 million funding for specialist homelessness services.  

The assertive outreach services will launch later this year, with the expansion bringing the total number of services to 18.
