Right around the world kinship care is the fastest growing form of out of home care.

This means that once children are removed from the care of their parents, they are placed with another family member, usually their grandparents, to be raised.

The benefits of placing these vulnerable children with family are becoming evident with research now indicating that kinship care is the most stable form of out of home care providing children with the best outcomes in life.

Quotes attributable to Member for Melton Steve McGhie

“I am aware of the effort and huge sacrifices made by the kinship carers in my electorate and want to do something to acknowledge their contribution to their own families and to the wellbeing of the whole community.  Therefore, I am pleased to be able to announce that I am sponsoring a series of luncheons seminars for kinship carers.”

“I will be working closely with Kinship Carers Victoria to make these occasions meaningful and enjoyable for our kinship carers. They will feature a guest speaker and will give the carers the opportunity to chat with each other over a shared meal.”

“I urge all kinship carers in Melton and Bacchus Marsh to contact KCV on 0499 969 234 to ensure they get a place at the luncheons”
