IMPROVING BOATING EXPERIENCE ACROSS MELTON

The Andrews Labor Government is continuing to improve recreational boating in Victoria with more than $42 million being invested as part of the Victorian Recreational Boating Action Plan 2022-23.

With funding delivered from boaters’ registration and licence fees, this package includes upgrades to a range of boating infrastructure across the state, including ramps, car parks, pontoons and jetties.

Member for Melton - Steve McGhie today announced planning and design for a new public boat ramp at the Melton Reservoir.

Melton will share in $3.45 million which includes replacing ramps, pontoons and jetties, improved parking and upgraded access roads to make it easier to get out on the water.

The plan also invests $3.3 million to continue our program to remove fees at public boat ramps. A further $2 million has been allocated for the Recreational Boating Structural Maintenance Program to support managers of public boat ramps with maintenance of their facilities.

In addition, the Government will continue its Recreational Boating Access and Dredging Program with $1 million in dredging grants to support managers of public boat ramps to facilitate dredging works and deliver projects that provide better access to boat ramps.

A further four locations will also see the installation of new Boating Vic cameras. These sites include Manns Beach, Shaving Point (Metung), Waranga Basin, and Warneet, and builds on previous funding of the Boating Vic camera network.

The Victorian Recreational Boating Action Plan builds on the Labor Government’s unprecedented investment in Fishing and Boating across the state.
