FASTER BROADBAND FOR MELTON

The Victorian Government is fast-tracking the delivery of improved broadband services to better connect Victorians living and working in Melton.

Member for Melton Steve McGhie today announced the Victorian Government has partnered with telecommunications providers to deliver two broadband infrastructure projects in Melton.

Businesses and households will have access to faster broadband services in Rockbank and Mount Cottrell.

Together with telecommunications partners NBN Co, Opticomm, and Swoop, the Victorian Government will deliver faster broadband in more than 180 locations, including 150 areas in regional Victoria all by mid-2025.

NBN Co will be delivering the vast majority of the broadband upgrades through a $195.4 million agreement with the Victorian Government.

An extra 2,000 kilometres of fibre will be installed, as well as the 1,000 kilometres of fibre already being rolled out over the next three years – almost the distance between Melbourne and Cairns.

These broadband projects build on the $73 million already invested to improve broadband connections across 54 suburbs and mobile services upgrades in over 1,000 sites as part of the $550 million Connecting Victoria Program.

All fibre funded through the program is due to be rolled out by mid-2025, with some locations being able to connect from mid-2023.

The $550 million Connecting Victoria program is fast-tracking better mobile and broadband in as many places as possible. To find out more, visit vic.gov.au/connectingvictoria
