BOOSTING MOBILE CONNECTIVITY IN MELTON

The Victorian Government is fast-tracking the delivery of improved mobile services to better connect Victorians living and working in Melton.

Steve McGhie Member for Melton today announced the Victorian Government has partnered with three telecommunications providers to deliver 19 mobile infrastructure projects in Exford, Kurunjang, Melton, Melton South, Melton West, Hopetoun Park, Long Forest and Merrimu.

Residents, businesses and visitors will have access to increased mobile coverage and improved services in: Cobblebank, Exford, Eynesbury, Hopetoun Park, Melton South, Melton West, Melton, Parwan, Strathtulloh, Weir Views, Brookfield, Harkness, Kurunjang, Toolern Vale, Thornhill Park, Long Forest, Bacchus Marsh, Maddingley, Darley and Merrimu.

Together with telecommunications partners Telstra, Optus and TPG the Government will build 17 new mobile towers, upgrade 2 towers to 5G, adapt a number of towers so they can be used by multiple telecommunications providers and make towers more resilient during natural disasters, all by 2026.

Through the Connecting Victoria program, the Victorian Government is delivering a total of 1,108 mobile infrastruc-ture projects in outer suburban Melbourne and regional Victoria.

More than 700 of these projects will be delivered to better connect regional and rural locations. In total, more than 1,200 suburbs and towns across the state will benefit from the Victorian Government’s investment.

Mobile connectivity plays a critical role in the lives of Victorians, providing access to healthcare, education, flexible working and emergency information and services.

The program addresses feedback provided by Victorians on the areas in the state where improvements are most needed.

This $300 million mobile investment is part of the $550 million Connecting Victoria program to fast-track better mobile and broadband in as many places as possible. To find out more, visit vic.gov.au/connectingvictoria
