BATTING CAGE HOME RUN FOR MELTON BASEBALL

Baseballers in Melbourne’s outer north west have scored a massive home run with the completion of a new batting cage at MacPherson Park in Melton, backed by the Victorian Government.

Member for Melton Steve McGhie today joined Melton City Council Mayor Cr Lara Carli, and representatives from the North Western Titans Baseball Club to officially open the batting cage, made possible by more than $175,000 from government.

With 85 junior and senior players, the batting cage is a huge win for the Titans, who have been a powerhouse in the Victorian Baseball League since 2012. 

Works delivered an upgraded two-lane training facility ideal for batting and pitching practice and is compliant with Baseball Australia standards.

The new facilities provide local baseballers the opportunity to spend more time in the nets and perfecting their skills.

The Victorian Budget 2026/27 is providing more than $24 million to support the development of high-quality, accessible community sports infrastructure across the state, including through the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

It’s part of the more than $2.4 billion invested by the Victorian Government into community sport and active recreation infrastructure since 2014.

From oval redevelopments to batting cage upgrades, investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Steve McGhie MP acknowledged Melton City Council for its more than $225,000 contribution and commitment to delivering the project.
