A leading Australasian architecture firm has been chosen to design a new TAFE campus in Melton. This is the latest step towards providing world-class TAFE facilities for locals, closer to home.

Member for Melton Steve McGhie today announced Architectus will design the new Kangan Institute campus in Melton, on track to open in 2028.

The Allan Labor Government is investing $55 million to establish the new campus, which will deliver training with a focus on construction and other trades to around 800 students each year.

The new TAFE campus is in Cobblebank, near the train station and close to schools and the future hospital.

Architectus has a strong track record of designing successful spaces in the training and skills sector. It was the architect for Kangan Institute’s new Health and Community Centre of Excellence in Broadmeadows and the revitalised Bendigo TAFE city campus.

Kangan Institute is well placed to build and operate the new Melton campus because of its geographical connection to the area. It also has well-established strengths in construction and trades training.

The City of Melton is one of Australia’s fastest growing areas – its population is forecast to grow by around 215,000 people between 2025 and 2046. The new Melton TAFE campus will meet increasing demand for education facilities in the area, giving locals easier access to world-class training.

The new campus is being funded through the Allan Labor Government’s Building Better TAFE Fund, which is focused on providing the best training facilities for students, close to home.

This fund is also delivering a new Kangan Institute campus in Sunbury, a Centre of Excellence in Disability Inclusion at The Gordon in Geelong, and a Bendigo TAFE Community Health and Learning Hub in Castlemaine.
