The Victorian Government is getting on with helping Aboriginal Victorians in Melton get into more sport and active recreation through the next round of the Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program.

Member for Melton Steve McGhie today encouraged the Victorian Aboriginal community to apply for grants of up to $1,500 for teams to participate in state-wide or national sport carnivals, grants of up to $1,000 towards team uniforms and sporting equipment and up to $250 per individual, for the purchase of sporting uniforms and/or equipment and grants of up to $750 for travel and accommodation expenses.

From Australian Diamond goalscoring ace Donnell Wallam to cricketer Scott Boland, Aboriginal athletes have made a huge impact beyond the stands.

The program reflects the government’s commitment to supporting the Victorian Aboriginal community, creating pathways to success and builds stronger connections within the community sport sector.

Since 2020, the Victorian Government has provided more than $290,000 through this program towards 270 grants to support Aboriginal community run organisations, clubs and individuals across the state.

It’s one of the many ways the government is ensuring individuals, teams and organisations have all the resources they need to provide opportunities for all Victorians. Applications for funding are open until 7 March 2023. For more information or to apply visit sport.vic.gov.au
